Training & Development Of Volunteers

Place of Refuge Community Church is committed to its volunteers and ensures the safeguard of Children and vulnerable adults through the umbrella organisation The Churches Child Protection  Advisory  Service (CCPAS).

As a member of CCPAS for the last seven years, Place of Refuge employ a lead and deputy recruiter ensuring policy and procedures are upheld within all its Church activities   ‘In House’ safeguarding training as well as appropriately trained personnel are involved in maintain best practice guidance.

Health  Safety at Work level 3, Leadership training as well as other areas of training that involve the attendance to conferences, Children in Need Training day, Positive Parenting Programme with Walsall Education Centre.

There is on going commitment to learning and development which is key to the success of the life of the Church and Charity.  Regular meetings are facilitated for ensuring top down bottom up approach to communications.  Trustees meet quarterly to discuss, strategically plan, action, monitor and review overall management and continuity of the Church and Registered Charity.  They ongoing review their policies and procedures and ensure regular risk assessment.   One to one meetings are held with volunteers as well as bi monthly chaired meetings takes place.

 

Heart Start Centre

Place of Refuge is Affiliated with British Heart Foundation as a Heart Start centre promoting ‘Simple Skills Saves Lives’.   This is a 2 hour FREE course for members of the public.  Each course held in the community hall teaches  CPR Skills, how to deal with choking Wounds and bleeding and how to deal with the unconscious casualty.  Upon completion of the course each participating member will receive a British Heart Foundation Certificate of attendance.   For more information on the next available course please email us.
